2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop

By | 15th January 2018

Welcome to the 2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop ! I’m so excited to be part of this fun collaboration with fellow demonstrators. This month’s theme is Occasions, as in our brand-new Occasions Catalog that just launched this month! I can’t wait to show you my project but I have to tell you I had a really hard time choosing which product to use (they’re all so gorgeous!!).

Anyway, I finally settled on the beautiful Petal Palette suite. I think the images and fonts in the stamp set are gorgeous and the co-ordinating dies are also fabulous. Every time I look at it, I get another idea! This is fast becoming my favourite from the Spring Summer catalogue and is a definite contender for my Top Ten stamp sets. So, here is the project I want to share with you today…..

Petal Palette Thank You

For today’s card, though, I decided to keep it really simple, show off the cute bird image and let the sentiment shine.  You might even find this is one of the Make & Take projects at my Crafty Open House on 20th January 😉

So anyway, the card!  I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock (14cm x 10cm) and stamped the bird and the sentiment using Memento Ink.  Then, I coloured the bird in using our Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends (remember to leave a little time after stamping for the ink to dry fully before you start colouring) . I’m having lots of fun with these new markers – so much so that I’ve got a special Stampin’ Blends Club  running from January to help you build your supply and colouring skills (with a few freebies along the way!)

For the border, I simply took a black fineliner pen and drew it freehand around the edge. I find this is a great, easy way to add interest to your card while still keeping the look clean. The heart is die cut from a scrap of Calypso Coral cardstock using the new Apron Builder die set. Then, the whole thing is layered onto a Basic Black card base (14.5cm x 21cm scored and folded at 10.5cm)

For the inside, I stamped the bird and the border image in Smoky Slate onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (14cm x 10cm)

After I made this one, I got a bit carried away and made a few more using different colours of our Stampin’ Blends and the ‘Thank You’ sentiment. I now I have a set of cute Thank You cards which I think I will give away as a prize in my Facebook Live broadcast on 22nd January.

Thanks Cheryl – it’s a simple detail and I’m glad you think it looks artsy because I am definitely challenged when it comes to drawing (which is why I stamp!!)
